Concert by R.S Mani (Vocal), M.S Gopalakrishnan (Violin) & Sankaran (Mridangam)
Talam or rhythm is one of the most important aspects of any musical system. Carnatic music has many different Talams each defining a particular cycle of beats. Aadi talam has eight equal intervals of time counted 4 + 2 + 2 for each "aavarthanam" (cycle of beat). The eight intervals are counted as "hand-clap, finger-count, finger-count, finger-count, hand-clap, wave, hand-clap, wave".
